Numerical Investigation of Water Inflow Characteristics in a Deep-Buried Tunnel Crossing Two Overlapped Intersecting Faults

چکیده

Because fault core zones and damage overlap, when a tunnel crosses the intersecting faults groundwater flow characteristics of tunnel-surrounding rock will be different compared to that from single fault. By using theory “Three-district zoning faults”, an improved Darcy–Brinkman numerical model for crossing was established in this work. Based on relative vertical positions between axis intersection center faults, underground water seepage field analyzed at steady-state by solving equation host zone zone. The simulation results show around is almost unaffected but mainly dependent heights. Specifically, position variation has little effect pore pressure. In terms velocity, regardless tunnel, maximum value velocity occurs near bottom excavation face consistently displays high values within small distance ahead face, then decreases quickly as increases. Furthermore, changes minimally rock. It likely encounter inflow rate passes through intersection. can provide practical reference predicting into deep-buried tunnels passing overlapped faults.

Estimation of groundwater inflow situation using fuzzy logic: a case study (Beheshtabad water conveying tunnel, Iran)

Water inflow is one of the most important challenges in the underground excavations. In addition to inducing working conditions and environmental problems, it decreases the stability and quality of the surrounding rocks. The direct method of measuring rock mass hydraulic conductivity consists of drilling the boreholes and observing the rate of fluid lost in the boreholes. Applying this method i...

Numerical investigation of clocking in a two-stage gas turbine

Flow in the first two-stage of V 94.2 gas turbine is simulated numerically. In this turbine, the second stator is clocked relative to the first stator to different positions. Steady-state analysis was carried out by varying the circumferential relative position of the consecutive stator vanes to study the effects of the clocking on turbine performance. A density based compressible inviscid ...

Numerical Investigation on the Effect of Tunnel Height on Drag Reduction in a High Speed Trimaran

There are different methods to reduce drag in high speed hulls. One of these methods is a change in the shape of the body by adding longitudinal side tunnels. In this paper it has been attempted to determine the influence of the tunnel height on hydrodynamic characteristics of the hull to achieving an optimum shape for the tunnel. To achieve this purpose, numerical simulation of the problem has...
